Do you sometimes wish you could just have a break from all the adulting and do something fun or crazy to add a little spark to your relationship?

You’re not alone in that fantasy and it’s actually important to do a few crazy things with your partner from time to time.

Most couples who are in long-term relationships actually have some little things that they do when they need some fun.

Everyday life can get hectic and stressful if you’re a working couple or new parents with little kids.

It’s important to do some quirky things to help you unwind and reconnect at the end of the day.

If you’re ready to take a step back from adulting and you want to know what to do together as a couple, I’ll give you a list of things couples do together when they’re bored.

17 THINGS COUPLES DO TOGETHER WHEN BORED

Do you fart out loud in front of your partner and then laugh about it?

There’s no need to be ashamed about your quirky habits. In fact, it’s pretty normal for couples to act this way.

From plucking chin hair every day to sniffing each other’s armpits, there are so many funny things long-term couples do together that show that they have a strong bond.

If you do any of these weird things as a couple, that’s a huge sign that your relationship is healthy and long-lasting.

Research shows that couples who play with each other are more likely to stay together for the long haul than couples who don’t.

A lot of people think that when you’re married or in a serious relationship, you always have to act mature and courteous all the time but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Happy couples have a lot of weird habits that they practice on a daily basis and that’s what keeps their relationship fun.

If you’re in a romantic relationship, it’s okay to play with your partner and do some silly things together regularly.

Not every couple has their entire life figured out so, creating a routine that works consistently is not possible for everyone.

If date night has been a far-fetched dream for you and your partner, that’s totally okay.

Sometimes, coming up with a list of couple activities to reconnect with each other is challenging especially if you’re on a tight budget.

Luckily, you’ll find some new things you can start doing with your partner to strengthen your bond.

You’ll be surprised at some of the weirdest things couples do with each other when no one’s watching.

It’s not compulsory to try all these funny things if they feel a bit awkward for you and your partner.

But, it’s good to try some of them at least once and if you like them, you can add them to your list of date night ideas. Here are some adorable things couples do together:

1. Give each other piggy back rides

Do you remember receiving piggy back rides when you were a kid?

It was a thrilling experience for me and it’s one of the funny things couples do together when they’re bored.

If you’ve not been exchanging piggy back rides with your partner, it’s not too late to start.

Anytime you’re looking for something to do, tell your partner to go down on all fours and hop on their back for a free ride.

Be prepared to laugh out loud if it’s been a while since you did this.

2. Have a pillow fight

Throwing fluffy pillows at each other may not be your perfect love language but it’s one of the easiest things couples do for fun when they’re bored at home.

I always end up with migraines when we do this so I tend to avoid it at all costs.

If you don’t mind turning your bedroom into a huge mess and cleaning up afterwards, this can be an great way to spend a lot of time together as a couple.

Just make sure the pillow fight doesn’t get out of hand or turn violent because one partner is trying to outdo the other.

As long as it’s all fun and laughs, engaging in a pillow fight can be a classic no-budget date idea for couples at home.

3. Sing in the shower

Have you ever tried singing a happy song in the shower? It’s hilarious and totally liberating to sing out loud while you’re having a wash.

But, it can turn out to be a fun couple activity if you both have a good sense of humor.

The best way to make it super fun is to come up with a high vibe song that can increase your level of happiness as you take a cold shower.

If you do this first thing in the morning, you’re sure to enjoy a positive day with good vibes only.

4. Dance in the living room

I love to see couples dance with each other; it always puts a smile on my face.

Dancing with my husband is always a pleasure because we don’t get to do it often due to our busy lifestyles.

Whenever we hear a beautiful song that means a lot to us or makes us want to move our bodies, we don’t hesitate to seize the opportunity to connect with each other.

If you’re looking for a fun way to put a smile on your partner’s face, play your favorite music and dance away your troubles in your living room or anywhere you feel like shaking that booty.

Funny Things For Couples To Do

5. Play hide and seek

This brings back a lot of cute childhood memories for me. I remember how exciting it was to hide from someone and make sure you’re not caught.

As adults, we often forget to reawaken our inner child and throw caution to the wind in the name of fun but some activities are actually fun to do even as grown-ups.

Playing hide and seek is another great way for couples to have fun without spending a dime.

If you live in a big house with lots of places to hide, it would be thrilling to play this childhood game with your partner.

6. Dress up in each other’s clothes

Have you ever tried on a piece of your partner’s clothing? This is one of the cutest things couples do and it’s so funny to see your partner all dressed up in your clothes.

If you’re a little bit smaller in size, it would be absolutely hilarious to watch your partner struggle to fit into an outfit of yours.

Get ready for uncontrollable laughter when you take turns to wear each other’s clothes.

It’s a fun way to spend quality time together at home while increasing your emotional bond.

A throwback photo of you in a man’s jeans or a woman’s dress is sure to bring back lovely memories in your relationship so don’t forget to take photos of your dress up party.

7. Go on a bicycle ride around town

This is my favorite fun activity to do as a couple because I get to let my inner child run wild.

Going on a bicycle ride around town with my partner is always a pleasurable experience for me especially if we’ve been stuck indoors for a long time.

Have you ever been on a bike ride with your partner? If you haven’t, add that to your bucket list and try to go on a bicycle riding adventure at least once to have a feel of it.

The most important aspect of this activity for me is the warmth of the sun, fresh air and the sense of freedom that comes with being outdoors.

Things Couples Do For Fun

8. Have a tickle fight

I absolutely dislike being tickled in any way but for some couples, it’s an excellent way to enjoy a good laugh on a boring day.

Do you know how your partner likes to be tickled? Everyone has a tickle spot that makes them laugh every single time it’s stimulated.

One of the best feelings in the world is to have a deep-rooted belly laugh unexpectedly. When was the last time you had a big belly laugh that was so good it hurt?

Get into a tickle fight with your sweetheart if you’re in the mood for some serious stress relief.

If you know your partner’s laughter button and they don’t mind you pressing it, feel free to steal a few moments of deeply satisfying laughter whenever the atmosphere seems tense.

9. Make funny jokes

Do you have a particular inside joke that you often refer to as a couple? There are going to be unpleasant moments in a romantic relationship that threaten to tear couples apart.

It’s a good thing to find simple ways to share a laugh with your partner regularly.

When your spouse does something that’s really funny, bring it up later so you can both reminisce and laugh about it.

Be mindful about your jokes though so you don’t intentionally hurt your partner with a sensitive topic that brings back negative emotions.

10. Speak to each other in baby voices

Do you ever speak to your partner in a baby voice? If it sounds a bit childish to speak like a baby to your adult partner, you’re in for some weird surprises!

Relationship experts say that couples who speak to each other in baby voices are actually more close than couples who don’t. I was blown away to hear that too!

According to Dr. Antonia Hall, a psychologist who specializes in adult relationships, “Baby talk signals a desire to nurture your romantic partner and the bond you share with each other.”

This means that speaking to your partner in baby voices or mimicking animal sounds is a good way to strengthen your relationship.

If you’re looking for crazy things to do with your boyfriend at home, you should definitely try baby talk! It’s funny and cute at the same time.

Cutest things couples do together

11. Mimic a foreign accent

My husband loves romantic languages like Spanish and French. I don’t fail to use this to my advantage every chance I get to make him feel good.

A lot of couples mimic foreign accents or speak foreign languages to each other when they’re in the mood to have fun.

There is just something romantic and intimate about saying a word in another language that your partner likes.

If you find out that your partner loves the British accent, tease them with it anytime you’re looking to get naughty.

12. Create a secret language

Do you know that couples who use a secret language to communicate are more connected to each other?

A New York Times study suggests that the emotional connection between loving relationships rely upon the same use of language.

If you’re looking for new ways to increase your emotional intimacy, create a secret language that only you and your partner knows.

Having your own language can also help you pass a secret message across to each other when you’re in public without revealing delicate information to eavesdroppers.

Next time you’re bored, come up with new names for objects, body parts and other things that you want to make private between you.

You can also add facial expressions or physical gestures instead of words to your private vocabulary to help you communicate easily with your partner.

13. Suggest code names or funny nicknames for each other

Do you have a funny nickname or special code name for your partner?

If you don’t have a cute name like boo, bae or peanut, it’s important to come up with one that your partner totally adores.

Couples who are each other’s best friend often have funny code names or nicknames that they call themselves when no one is around.

Calling your partner a special name that only you knows helps to increase the intimacy in your relationship.

Whenever you find yourselves bored at home, suggest a list of new names for each other and allow your partner to choose their favorite.

It would be a fun way to spend date night and reconnect with each other after a long day.

Weird things couples do together

14. Pluck each other’s facial hairs

Do you or your partner groom each other occasionally? For some couples, plucking a partner’s facial hair is a sign of true love and closeness in their relationship.

I must admit that taking turns to groom one another is one of the weird things couples do but this could be a nice way to be vulnerable with each other.

It’s a bit awkward for women to spot facial hair on their chin, so asking a partner to help pluck it may just end up in a night of laughter for both of you.

It can be the other way round too for men who battle with nose hairs or ingrown hairs.

If removing facial hair is a gross thing to do with your partner, there is no need for you to try this if you don’t like the idea.

You can find other fun things for couples to do at home when bored in this post.

15. Play drinking games at home

A lot of couples know how to play board games or card games for fun but not everyone remembers to lighten the atmosphere with some adult games.

The perfect drinking game for couples always come with a lot of drinking, outrageous challenges and plenty of laughs.

If you’re looking for something funny to do with your partner, play drinking games on date night instead of the regular board games.

You won’t be able to stop yourself from laughing when you’re both tipsy from all the alcohol you have to drink.

Luckily, you can do this at home so you don’t have to worry about taking a wrong turn, dozing off on the steering wheel or bashing your car into a pole.

16. Sniff each other’s armpits to check if you really need to take a shower

If you’re super bored at home and you need a list of weird things to do with your boyfriend, sniffing each other would be a good way to catch some fun.

My husband and I do this all the time. It’s a bit spontaneous and hilarious for us when it happens.

I don’t know why animals sniff each other but we often do this when we’re spending the whole day at home and don’t really have the energy to take a shower or do anything else.

After staying in bed or doing a movie marathon for several hours, we try to decide if we need to clean up or not.

The best way we vote on this is to sniff each other’s armpits to check if we really need that shower after all.

It’s gross I know, but we’re definitely not the only couples who have this weird habit.

17. Pop each other’s pimples or zits

Most days, when I’m mindlessly scrolling through my phone or reading a book, I simultaneously pop the pimples on my husband’s back and chest.

His dominant love languages are physical touch and quality time so he absolutely loves it when I do this. He says it gives him tingles and goosebumps all over.

This may sound a bit absurd but a lot of couples do this too when no one is watching. If your partner has zits on their back or hands, you can pop them too as a pleasant pastime.

I’ve given you a list of funny things for couples to do at home when bored that you can try out with your partner.

There are so many different things you can do to express your love for each other that are totally free.

Most of the activities on my list are considered as stereotypical couple things because a lot of couples do this when they’ve been together for a long time.

The most important things in life are the simple things we do such are exchanging loads of kisses at the back of a train, going on a bicycle ride around town or running under the rain.

You don’t need to break the bank in order for you to have fun as a couple.

While some couples prefer to enroll for a cooking class, have a candlelight dinner or go on a hunting trip as a way to explore their common interests and reconnect, other couples like to do silly things that help them have so much fun.

In the end, what matters is that you love yourselves and you’re willing to stay together for the long haul.

Sharing a little dance, a foot massage or a funny conversation can be enough to keep the love alive in a romantic relationship, so don’t feel pressured to indulge in extravagant activities that are meaningless to you.

The goal of every couple is to build a healthy, happy relationship that can last for a lifetime and how you do that is really nobody’s business.

If any of these things couples do for fun sound like something you would love to try out with your partner, don’t allow anything to stop you.

As long as your partner is on board with the idea, that’s all you really need to create the best feelings in the world with little or no budget.
