15 AT HOME VALENTINE’S DAY IDEAS FOR COUPLES

At home Valentine's Day ideas for couples

My husband and I are couch potatoes. We always jump at the opportunity of spending quality time together at home whenever it comes.

We love staying indoors so much that we decided to brainstorm a list of Valentine’s day date ideas we could explore this year so we can save some money and still have fun.

We strongly believe in showing love by doing little things that really make a difference in our lives.

These are some of the most romantic at home Valentine’s day ideas that made it to the final list:

1. Write romantic love letters to each other

There is nothing more romantic than waking up to a handwritten love letter from the love of your life.

This is a perfect way to spend Valentine’s at home and it needs a little bit of preparation before hand.

Get a fancy notebook and an elegant pen a few days before. You can choose to write your love letter the previous day or on the morning of Valentine’s.

If you don’t like the idea of using paper, you can write heartfelt words on a card, leave a romantic love note in an unexpected place or simply send a Good morning Valentine message to your spouse.

Simple gestures like these are what makes a romantic relationship passionate and enjoyable.

2. Have an indoor picnic in a tent

This is an absolutely romantic idea that’s cozy and inexpensive at the same time.

If you’ve decided to stay at home for Valentine’s Day, you can try having an indoor picnic in the comfort of your own home. How does this romantic idea work?

If you know how to build a fort, this will be really easy for you to do.

Use a bedsheet to create a tent in your living room, spread a few blankets underneath, add some fairy lights and enjoy a romantic indoor picnic with your Valentine.

3. Enjoy a candlelight dinner for two

I love this idea so much that I think it qualifies to be added to my list of best Valentine’s Day ideas at home for couples. It doesn’t get more romantic than this!

Having a candlelight dinner for two is a great way to recreate your first date instead of going out to a fancy restaurant for Valentine’s Day.

If you like this romantic dinner idea, make sure you involve your spouse in the cooking process or preparation of the dining table.

When the three-course meal is ready, turn off the lights in the dining area, light up some soy candles and dress up for your romantic date just like you would if you were going to your favorite restaurant.

4. Organize a romantic spa night at home

If you want a night of romance and pampering, you should consider having a spa day at home. We always opt for this when we just want to relax and let go.

Fill up the bathtub with water, add liquid soap or organic bath bombs to get lots of foam, light candles in the bathroom and soak in your bubble bath together.

To make it a complete home spa, be sure to include rose petals, a foot scrub session and aromatic essential oils.

This can totally be a Valentine’s Day surprise for your spouse if you want to make them feel pampered.

5. Slow dance to romantic songs

When was the last time you hit the dance floor with your spouse? I bet that was in the early days of dating.

You can have so much fun together by organizing a romantic Valentine’s party at home for two.

Get a romantic playlist, put on your dancing shoes, play your favorite songs and slow dance in each other’s arms.

This is the perfect date night idea that usually leads to lots of hot kisses and passionate lovemaking. I think that’s a great way to end Valentine’s Day.

6. Have breakfast in bed together

I totally love eating breakfast in bed especially when my husband surprises me by waking up early to cook while I’m still sleeping.

Do you want to make your spouse feel loved this Valentine? Prepare a homemade meal in the morning and serve it on a personalized charcuterie board in bed.

Don’t be lazy and pick something simple like cereal or tea. Cook something delicious that you don’t usually eat for breakfast and tidy up the dishes afterward to score some bonus points.

This special indoor date idea is simple to do and it goes a long way to increase romance in your relationship.

7. Give each other sensual massages

This is one of my favorite date night ideas at home because of how intimate and relaxing it feels.

I know a lot of couples who sign up for a fancy spa treatment where they pay an expensive price just to get couples’ massages.

There is nothing wrong with that if you’ve got the money but if you’re on a tight budget, a DIY spa night is just what you need.

If you’re looking for fun things to do on Valentine’s Day with your spouse, giving each other sensual massages will be the perfect couple activity to help you reignite the spark in your relationship.

Grab a bottle of massage oil, dim the lights, put on some scented candles and give each other wonderful massages to make it a romantic evening.

If you don’t want a full body massage, you can just decide to massage each other’s favorite body part.

8. Play an intimacy game for couples

It’s important to always have a deck of cards just in case you need something fun to do as a couple at home.

If you’re looking for romantic things to do with your spouse for Valentine’s, playing intimacy games for couples is a great Valentine’s day idea to put you in the mood and increase intimacy.

Ask each other naughty truth or dare questions to spice up date nights at home or play some other adult game you have.

The best part about this date idea is that it can lead to a more romantic night where you explore other intimate adventures together.

9. Try a new lovemaking position

With work, young kids and busy schedules, it’s difficult maintaining a romantic relationship with your spouse over a long period of time.

Most couples who try to get intimate often use the same lovemaking position over and over again.

If you want to have a memorable Valentine’s Day, experiment with a new lovemaking position you’ve never tried before.

Do you have any romantic idea you’re dying to try in the bedroom?

Tell your spouse about it and make sure they are okay with the idea before trying it on Valentine’s Day.

10. Make love in a different location

How many times do you make love on the bed?

You’re not alone if you always get intimate in the bedroom but this can lead to a boring love life for married couples.

The key to a successful marriage is variety when it comes to intimacy.

Avoid being too predictable this Valentine’s Day and come up with a different location where you can make love.

Even if you’re not the adventurous type, making out on the couch or on the living room floor can be a great way to make your Valentine’s Day extra special and take your relationship to the next level.

11. Turn your guest room into a romantic hotel room

Spending the night in a luxurious hotel room is a lovely way to unwind and spend quality time together as a couple.

But what if you can’t afford it this year or you’re not in the mood for something lavish?

That’s where great home date ideas come in… If you have a spare guest room in your house, turn it into a romantic hotel room for date night on Valentine’s day.

You can easily achieve this by changing the bedsheet, decorating the bed with rose petals, keeping new towels in the bathroom and using an aromatherapy diffuser to make the room smell nice.

When you’re ready for your date, take a nice shower together, drink a glass of wine and cuddle in your hotel bed for the rest of the night.

This is one of my favorite Valentine’s Day date ideas and I know you’ll love it too.

12. Have a backyard date night

If you’re an adventurous couple who loves exploring outdoor activities and you need something fun to do on Valentine’s day, a backyard date night would be the perfect idea for you.

Set up a nice rustic dining table in your backyard for dinner or place some blankets and throw pillows on the ground for your date night.

Make it a little bit more romantic by hanging artificial lights or lanterns on the wall.

If you’re up for it, get a portable tabletop grill for barbecue night or just stargaze together.

13. Feed each other aphrodisiac foods

Another great couple activity to do on Valentine’s day at home is to feed each other aphrodisiac foods.

Examples of libido-boosting foods include dark chocolate, banana dipped in cream, watermelon shaped like popsicles, dark-colored grapes, fresh apples, strawberry dipped in chocolate syrup, oysters etc.

According to health experts, these foods are really great for increasing libido and improving your overall performance in bed.

14. Have a movie marathon night

Who doesn’t watch movies at home? I know this is a common activity you do in normal times.

But you can make it more exciting by dressing up as if you’re going to the cinema.

You can also make it more fun by dimming the lights in the living room and eating popcorn while you watch a truckload of romantic movies on Valentine’s Day.

Another way to pull this off is by hosting a backyard movie night with a big projector while you prop yourselves up with lots of throw pillows on a blanket.

Watching a romantic movie is a perfect way to celebrate your love at home.

If you need inspiration, search for best Valentine’s Day movies online and pick the titles you really like.

15. Organize a fun couples quiz for two

Another creative way to celebrate Valentine’s day at home is by organizing a couples quiz where you take turns asking each other fun questions for couples.

Before you begin your Valentine’s game night, print out a list of great questions, prepare some snacks, chill some drinks in the fridge and have fun playing the trivia game.

A couples quiz is great for improving your communication and kickstarting great conversations with your spouse.

This can be a meaningful way to explore creative at home date ideas while getting to know each other better.

These are some of the most romantic ideas to make your day really special and filled with romance.
